PER I CONSUMATORI
CertiPUR è un programma volontario di verifica, analisi e certificazione in merito alla sostenibilità ambientale, sicurezza e salubrità della schiuma poliuretanica impiegata nella produzione di materassi ed elementi di arredo imbottiti. CertiPUR specifica le sostanze che non è consentito utilizzare nella produzione delle schiume poliuretaniche e stabilisce livelli massimi rigidi per alcune componenti.
In particolare, la certificazione di conformità CertiPUR garantisce che le schiume conformi:
- Non contengano metalli pesanti quali ad esempio mercurio, piombo o cadmio
- Non contengano coloranti cancerogeni o allergenici come stabilito dalla normativa UE
- Non contengano plastificanti ftalati
- Non contengano sostanze cancerogene o che possono provocare danni genetici ereditari
- Emettano bassi livelli di COV (composti organici volatili).
Tutti i produttori di schiume poliuretaniche possono richiedere l'etichetta di conformità CertiPUR. I campioni di schiuma per i quali si richiede l'etichetta sono verificati in laboratori indipendenti. Se i campioni risultano conformi alle specifiche dello standard CertiPUR, il produttore riceve un'etichetta CertiPUR valida per tre anni. Ogni anno viene effettuato un controllo di conformità durante il periodo di validità dell'etichetta per garantire che la schiuma prodotta continui a essere conforme alle specifiche di CertiPUR.
Acquistare un materasso o un elemento d’arredo recante il logo CertiPUR garantisce pertanto che la schiuma contenuta sia conforme alle rigide specifiche di CertiPUR. Può tuttavia avvenire che sui materassi siano presenti altri certificati, in quanto alcuni sistemi di certificazione analizzano tutte le componenti di un materasso o elemento d’arredo. Due sistemi con requisiti qualitativi analoghi alle schiume poliuretaniche sono in particolare Oeko Tex 100 e l'Ecolabel UE.
